Kampung SAYA
Utilizing the RISHA (Rumah Instan Sederhana Sehat) modular construction system, a product of The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia, with a basic module of 3x3m, the house units are designed with modularity in mind. All of the materials used, such as GRC boards for the exterior walls, gypsum boards for the interior walls, as well as AAC concrete block for the wet areas, have dimensions that fit with the RISHA modules.

The house units of kampung SAYA are designed as a ‘blank canvas’, with raw finishing materials such as unpainted plastered exterior wall, and exposed concrete floors, which can then be modified & customized by the occupants to express their personality, creating a vibrant housing area reflecting the diversity of its occupants.

The house units are arranged in compounds, each with a small inner court at its heart stimulating social interactions between occupants of different units. The fully detached nature of the house units enables the presence of openings at each side of the buildings, allowing natural cross ventilation as well as natural lighting to take place.
