Rukkopo is a pair of shophouses in Bandung intended to attract emerging businesses needing a more sleek-looking building to host them.
A functionalist approach was adopted to design the project. The cleverly designed facade with openings & recesses is intended to provide ample natural light & ventilation to each floor. Something that is missing in most modern shophouse designs. The flow of natural light & air, even in spaces where activities are indoor-oriented, creates higher levels of comfort & convenience in Rukkopo.
A stairwell located at the back of the building is lit by a skylight. The metal handrails are designed to give a light & airy feel in contrast to the monolithic concrete stairs.
