residential

year:

2020

location:

kelapa gading, jakarta, indonesia

site/building area:

670sqm / 1000sqm

Situated at a corner land plot within a private high-end estate, AY House is designed as the living quarter of a career woman & her daughter.

Each of the primary occupants requested a relatively large private area, translating into the two building masses on the second floor. The corner-facing building mass houses the master living quarter, including a study, a large wardrobe, a bathroom, & a bedroom with a view to a large garden across the site.  The daughter's living quarter & a guest room form the second building mass.

The ground floor features another guest room, an open plan living-dining-pantry area, & a private living room. Natural lighting & cross ventilation are maintained through an open-to-sky inner court & an alley at the back of the house. A swimming pool is situated at the center of the house, while a large terrace surrounded by a garden occupies the site's street-facing side.

Service functions such as a two-car garage, the staff's living quarters, storage areas, & a multifunction room are located on the semi-basement level.
